As they mark the first year or being the Prince and Princess of Wales, the couple have discovered what they want from the role and set a clear path to be the future of the monarchy, those around them say.

'There's a lot for him to get his head around, and although he and his father worked closely together, there will have been a lot of "listening and discussing" his future path,' the source said.

'He has this unwavering commitment to duty and service. He takes the role extremely seriously and is incredibly focused on working hard but also supporting his father as King,' they added.

The royal, 41, is travelling to the US to raise the profile of the Earthshot prize, his environmental award for planet-saving solutions and initiatives.

But an aide says a recent poll, which positioned him as viewed more favourably than Joe Bidena and Volodymyr Zelensky will not divert him from the task at hand.

The Gallup survey concerned 15 pre-chosen names of 'public figures in the news' and Americans were asked whether they thought of them favourably, or otherwise.
