The two-year-old boy still missing after falling into the River Soar has been pictured - as his family called him a 'bundle of joy' and said: 'We just want him to be found.'

A search has been ongoing in the area near Aylestone in Leicestershire since Sunday afternoon after the toddler now identified as Xielo Maruziva was reported to have fallen into the water.

There was surprise when emergency services initially called off the first night's search four hours after he went missing. The next day police and specialist diving teams appeared to significantly ramp up efforts.

Xielo's family today described their son as a 'cheeky, funny' boy who is 'a bundle of joy' and have also thanked members of the community for their ongoing support.

His mother said: 'Xielo is a cheeky, funny, friendly, smart, caring and independent little boy. He never fails to make me laugh or smile and always loves a cuddle and some kisses.

'Me, his dad and the whole family are so heartbroken at what has happened. We thank everyone who has supported us and helped us during this time. We are extremely grateful for this.

'All we want is for Xielo to be found as soon as possible. Thank you.'

Xielo's father added: 'Xielo is a bundle of joy to us. He is a charming and creative little boy and has just started at nursery. He loves cuddles, playing with his toys and going to the park.

'As a family we have been completely devastated over the past few days as the search for Xielo continues. It is hard to describe the pain and suffering we are going through.

'We would like to thank the search teams at the scene. We would also like to thank members of the public for all of your support. It is your prayers which are keeping us strong.

'We kindly ask that people wait for updates through the authorities in relation to the search as we continue to be overwhelmed with enquiries and messages at this time.

'Thank you all for your ongoing love and support.'

Police have raised concerns about rescue efforts being hampered by rising tides, as the Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the Upper Soar catchment area.

Police earlier this week revealed how the boy's father had jumped into the river to try to save him, police confirmed today, as officers vowed: 'We will bring him home.'

The parent was taken to hospital as a 'precautionary measure' after going into the water to try to save him but was later discharged.

Drones, helicopters and specialist divers have been involved in the ongoing search, as well as back-up officers and resources have arrived from other forces including Lincolnshire Police, Nottinghamshire Police and London's Metropolitan Police.

Officers have said they wanted to get in touch with a dog walker who was in the area at the time the toddler was swept away.

And they yesterday revealed they possessed CCTV of the tragedy and had brought in sniffer dogs to help.

The force is asking members of the public to stay away from the scene due to safety concerns due to rising water levels.

A long-standing resident whose home overlooks Aylestone Meadows said flooding from the River Soar in recent weeks had left parts of the nature reserve in a treacherous state.

She described recent river conditions as 'quite bad' and very 'fast-flowing'.

Xielo's family are understood to be local to the area.

Officers have asked for anyone who spoke to them on Sunday to come forward again as they seek to confirm witnesses' identities and contact details.

A force spokesperson previously told MailOnline on Monday morning: 'The fire service came away at half past nine last night but police officers remained in the vicinity and were monitoring any information coming in and resources were ready to go out and respond if needed.'

Christina Aguilera says she is fighting against sexism to allow daughter Summer, 9, to 'grow up without shame': 'I want her to feel comfortable'

Christina Aguilera candidly spoke about fighting back against sexism as she envisions a better future for her daughter.

The 43-year-old pop icon - who wowed fans with her new look when she presented at the Grammys -  said she wants to end the double standard for women during her cover story for Ad Week released on Tuesday.

'[Women] go through a lot with their sexuality,' she began. 'We’re shamed, we’re labeled, we’re scrutinized. It’s time for all that to end.'

The siren added: 'I’ve experienced firsthand the double standards [put on women]; and I’ve been shamed for being open, for expressing myself sexually and trying to own my body, and for trying to empower other women,' she continued. 'People are afraid of that.'

A driving force for her commitment to the cause is her nine-year-old girl Summer Rain, whom she shares with her fiancé Matthew Rutler.

'I want [my daughter] to grow up not feeling any shame or stigma and feel comfortable as a woman,' Aguilera explained.

Her 15-year-old son Max Liron, whose father is Aguilera's ex-husband Jordan Bratman, is also on her mind.

'I want my son to understand and appreciate women’s struggles and what they go through, and to feel part of the conversation as well,' she added.

The superstar went on to explain how her sexual wellness brand Playground, which she launched last year, is a perfect fit for helping fight the good fight.

'That’s the future of this brand; it’s about opening doors for new conversations, [encouraging women] to take better care and have awareness for their bodies and themselves,' she said.

She added of the business venture: 'This has been a very comfortable and natural space for me to enter because [sexuality] has been such a big part of my life, my world, my music.'

Her career has been defined by such provocative and defiant anthems like Dirrty and Fighter.

She also caused people to reexamine their positions on sexism with her provocative rendition of Lady Marmalade and the notorious Madonna kiss at the 2003 VMAs.

Playground is her latest move, taking her mission to uplift and support others into the territory of sexual health.

She aimed to establish a 'safe haven' specifically for women.

Her motivation stemmed from the observation that the market predominantly featured products tailored either for men or for 'their women.'

'At this point in my life also as a mother, it's really important for me that I open up this conversation to my daughter and make sure that she feels empowered early on in her life to feel good about asking me any questions,' Aguilera told People in 2023.

'Simplifying the information and just making it very matter of fact. This is not something that we should be scared or ashamed of.'

Meanwhile, the hitmaker revealed that Summer wants to be her manager in the future during a new interview with Vogue.

'On the way to school the other day with her dad, [Summer] said, "When I grow up, I want to either be mama's photographer or mama's manager." It's so funny,' she said.

'We told Will.i.am that [when he came to see the show], and he was like, "Oh, my God, she's your daught-ager." So daught-ager is the word of the year. It's just so cute,' she said.

The star went on to share how her second child had already become actively involved in overseeing her mother's busy schedule.

'If I'm running late for something or have an appointment, she's like, "You know they're waiting, Mama. We need to go,"' she stated.

She added: 'Literally she's embodying that, and it's just the most beautiful [thing].'

Aguilera added that Summer 'gives me so much love and support. Before I go on stage, she knows I get nervous, and she's like, "You're going to do great, mama."'

Kelce dropped a huge hint that he could head Down Under on this week's episode of his New Heights podcast, claiming that he would 'venture to an island real soon' with the best ones being 'south' of the US.

He added that next week's podcast is a pre-recorded guest episode which he is not featured in, which led fans to believe he would join his girlfriend in Sydney – and maybe travel with her to Singapore for her shows in the first week of March.

Rumours are also heating up that Swift and Kelce will enjoy enjoy a romantic holiday together in Queensland during their time Down Under.

Swift is set to perform four shows in Sydney from Friday, February 23 to Monday February 26.

"No rehuimos nuestra responsabilidad.
